Many successful celebrities with high net worths have started their own brands to promote their own sense of style and taste. Celebrity branding or celebrity endorsement is a form of an advertising campaign or a marketing strategy that uses the celebrity’s fame or social status to promote their products, services, and brands. Using celebrities also helps endorsers to send out a positive image and is an effective form of fundraising for a social cause or issue.

Here are some popular brands that are owned or founded by celebrities:

Drake

The Canadian rapper founded his own clothing line called OVO with Oliver El-Khatib as his business partner. Their line promotes streetwear clothes that will most likely make $50 million in sales this year. They both mentioned their line as products made for necessities such as traveling to different climates, these garments are versatile, practical, and stylish while also being fit for business meetings and other formal events.

The brand has collaborated with Nike, Canada Goose, Clarks, Timberland, and the artist Takashi Murakami. The OVO brand also debuted as OVO Fest, an annual music festival that has featured performers including Kanye West, A$AP Rocky, Kendrick Lamar, and Jay z. It also debuted as OVO Sound Radio which was a monthly program made with Apple’s internet radio station and premiered Drake’s hit singles, such as Hotline Bling and One Dance.

Victoria Beckham

In September 2008, the former Spice Girl member, Victoria Beckham, launched her own namesake fashion brand, and she has now become a highly acclaimed designer. Her luxury collections are praised by editors for their day-to-night wearability, which has also been proved by Victoria herself as she tends to dress mostly in her own line’s clothes. Victoria uses her line as a voice of modern minimalism with a strong sense of sophistication.

All the products in her line are an adaptation of Victoria’s personal style, which matches the needs of a modern woman; all these clothes help women feel bold, powerful, stylish, and posh while carrying out their everyday activities. Her fashion line now sells footwear, bags, accessories, and sunglasses, along with their ready-to-wear clothes.

Kendall and Kylie Jenner

In 2015 Kendall and Kylie Jenner launched their own ready-to-wear fashion and accessories line. Since then, they have sold numerous trendy and affordable pieces along with their expensive capsule collection for retail outlets such as Neiman Marcus. Their site has a variety of clothing options and numerous pictures of the Jenner Duo.

Their brand now has over 5 million followers on Instagram and encapsulates the fashion sense of a confident, stylish and trendy woman with a range of clothing options; from dresses, shoes, loungewear, and tops to bottoms and swimwear, handbags, and shoes. Most of the products are inspired by Kendall and Kylie’s own personal clothing sense and consist of neutral tones with pops of color such as mustard, red, burgundy, or golden.

Jessica Simpson

Jessica Simpson launched her own brand in 2005 but was sold to Sequential Brand Group Inc in a $117 million deal. Her collection expanded to clothing, sunglasses, handbags, accessories, and jewelry, and in 2015 brought in $1 billion in revenue from retailers like Macy’s, Nordstrom, and HSN. After a two-year battle, Jessica finally won her brand back since the brand was at risk of bankruptcy.
